Situation
When a ransomware attack left BHC unable to meet its engineering clients’ needs for an entire week, they knew they needed help. After working with a cybersecurity firm and their insurance company to get their system unlocked, they immediately began looking at ways to plug their security holes.
“The ransomware attack was clearly what caused us to say, we have to take a strategic look at our IT and data infrastructure,” said Kevin Honomichl, president of BHC. “And it was what reminded us that our IT infrastructure is absolutely mission-critical because our employees can’t even work without it.”
A week after the ransomware attack, the COVID-19 pandemic hit, and BHC had to pivot to an environment where their employees worked from home, making the security and reliability of their IT infrastructure a top priority. They needed someone who could holistically assess their systems and create a path for BHC to protect itself from outside attacks and system failures.

AdamsGabbert conducted a top-to-bottom vulnerability assessment of BHC’s IT systems, identifying not only security issues but also system failure trouble spots. AG’s goal was to offer economically viable options to implement improved security and reliability. This resulted in the creation of a year-long phased plan to upgrade systems and enhance security.
“AdamsGabbert helped us develop a phased plan that our staff can implement and that we can budget for and program for over the course of the year,” Honomichl said. “It’s basically laid out a one-year plan to update and upgrade our system in a way that keeps us safe and secure along the way.”

Results
As BHC moves through the phased plan, Honomichl said they have peace of mind, knowing that security issues are being addressed and redundancies and reliability are being introduced into their IT infrastructure.
