Solar Energy

Situation

Savion, LLC, a company that focuses on utility-scale solar and storage energy project development, needed to hire several senior-level IT system administrators and help desk specialists. Savion needed help identifying more candidates for these roles as the number of qualified people applying was limited.

As a relatively new stand-alone company, Savion had a specific need for candidates with a generalist knowledge of IT who would fit in with the company’s culture. Savion’s Director of IT Infrastructure and Operations Eric Hartwell described their needs:

“We’re such a small shop that we really need generalists who are really good,” he said. “Personality, cultural fit and team fit are probably more important, though.”

Solution

Hartwell reached out to AdamsGabbert (AG) to add some more candidates to their prospect pool because he needed to focus on the day-to-day operations at Savion.

“It’d be really hard for us to look for people,” he said. “I don’t have time to do in-depth candidate analysis prior to interviews, so having somebody do the up-front work for us is extremely beneficial.”

Hartwell met with an AdamsGabbert recruiter, and through tours and in-person meetings, AG worked with Hartwell to understand the company’s culture and needs, to create a profile of the type of person who would be the best fit at Savion.

AG found several candidates to fit the company’s requirements for their open positions, then let Hartwell make the decision on his own timeline. Hartwell said he appreciated the low-pressure approach.

“Never any pressure, never any champing at the bit to get us to try to make a decision. AG allowed us to move at our own pace.”

Results

Savion had four open positions and filled three of them with candidates from AdamsGabbert. Hartwell is pleased with his collaboration with AG and would trust them to find a candidate for his next open position.

“Based on the track record, when we’re ready to hire again, there’s a good chance an AG candidate would be one of our top picks.”
